Crochet Me Crochet Along #1: Supplies

I’m participating in the Crochet Me Crochet Along, and the first project I’ve chosen is the Mini Wrap Skirt by Amy O’Neill Houck. I’m hoping to chronicle this endeavor at several points along the way. I really wanted to get started right away but I’m helping my boyfriend house-sit and I left my digital camera at home. (I used to carry it in my purse all the time, but then after a heavy rain some medicine got wet on it and left a stain. Which is not the worst that could have happened, really.) So I had to take this photo of my supplies using my phone.

In the picture, you can see my Bernat SuperValue Yarn in True Gray and Black, my copy of Crochet Me, and my box of hooks, needles, and scissors. Not pictured are my measuring tape and my yarntainer. Oh, I love my yarntainer so much.

I’m really looking forward to finishing this project. During the week I’m a teacher dressed in appropriate professional wear, but on the weekends I turn slightly new punk rock (a. k. a. not very hard core) and will love wearing this over my leggings with the skull and crossbones (pirate punk!) or my new glittery silver leggings I bought just for wearing under it (glam punk!).

Are you in the Crochet Along? What are you going to making?

Here’s a picture of the finished skirt as worked by Amy:

I’m so excited!

Great minds think alike. I too am doing this skirt. I’m also inconsistent with my hooks versus the patterns. I’m halfway through the skirt and am thinking of doing stripes on the hem and putting wooded toggles down the side hem as an oriental kind of touch. What’s your finished product looking like?
