Well, it was the Star Wars amigurumi that caught my eye:

Star Wars Amigurumi

But Sammi has a whole blog full of Geeky Crochet over at Geek Central Station, so you should really check it out.  She’s got all of the Fellowship of the Ring, and even published a few free patterns for those characters.  Her boyfriend creates all the weapons and such out of Sculpey, so it’s a collaborative effort.

I can’t wait to see where her efforts take her!

You should also definitely read her interview at the Star Wars Blog.  One of the points she makes is that if you want to try making amigurumi, you should jump right in.  I wholeheartedly agree.  These are some of the easiest, quickest, and most rewarding projects you will ever find.  And the internet contains a wealth of geeky amigurumi patterns, from Ninja Turtles to Moogles.
