We now know the Fox Network has asked Joss Whedon to reshoot large portions of the premiere episode of his new starship show, FIREFLY.
What’s new today is what Joss Whedon had to say to us about the subject. When we caught up with him on the subject, which has been the underground buzz over the last few weeks in genre production circles, Whedon told us, “It was really a question of not shifting the paradigm too much. Fox wanted a little more action and a little less drama. I had told them from the start it was going to be a drama and a western and have a kind of slowness to it. They went ‘No, no, no.’ when they saw it. They said, ‘Well, we need it to be faster, funnier, and flipper.” It wasn’t a question of changing character or what it was about or the world – so it wasn’t anything that really bothered me. It was a question of adjusting. If they said recast anybody, I wouldn’t have done it. It is such a great ensemble.”
Well, if he’s not bothered…
