For those of you unfamiliar with needlework like knitting and crochet, it’s often the case that in this type of needlework you need to mark the beginning of a row or the right side of a project.  That’s why we have stitch markers.  These stitch markers in particular use lobster claw clasps, which makes them perfect for crochet.  Here we have a Fruity Oaty Bar girl, a Hand of Blue, some Leaves on the Wind, Kaylee’s Strawberry, and Jayne’s hat.  These were created for Craftster padfoot by FiberAlchemist.

Jayne's Hat from "The Message"

There are patterns for free and hats themselves for sale all over the internet, if you’re looking for the hat Ma Cobb sends Jayne in the Firefly episode “The Message.”

Our favorite is Heather’s at Wear With Style.  Heather knits hats and sells them, as well as putting together kits for knitters who want to make their own hats.  The proceeds go towards bills for her daughter’s occupational and speech therapy.  Heather had to leave her job as a local TV producer when her daughter was diagnosed with autism.  Making hats provides her with an income while enabling her to be available for her daughter during the day.  If you’d rather purchase your own supplies, Heather published her pattern on Craftster.
